Description: Engine: The Vauxhall 2 litre John Harrison tuned twin cam engine developing about 230 bhp is mid mounted. It runs on twin carburettors and has a rev limit of 7500 rpm. The fuel tank has been expanded and modified to a dry fuelling system for longer distance races and ease of use on track days. Gearbox: Hewland LD200 gearbox is rear mounted. This is a sturdy five speed gearbox with adjustable ratios, manual H gate gear selection. Limited slip diff fitted for improved wet weather handling. Chassis: A bronze welded space framed chassis with an integral roll hoop forms a very rigid structure as the basis of the JADE. Each corner of the car has two wishbones and a push rod that operates an inboard shock absorber and spring unit. Anti roll bars fitted front and rear control the amount of suspension roll. The fibreglass body is in two parts so it can be totally removed with relative ease. Aero dynamic down-force is provided by a front splitter and a rear wing. Wheels: The 13 inch diameter wheels are 8 inches and 10 inches wide front and rear respectively. Avon racing slick or wet tyres are used dependant on the track conditions. Car comes with full sets of both. Performance: The basic car weighs 520 kilos which equates to 440 bhp per ton. Plus driver and fuel the car weights about 625 kilos – or about 370 bhp per ton. With a passenger as well – about 330 bhp per ton. As to performance data –The car will lap the Brands Indy circuit in the 47s,and had 3rd fastest lap at the Holland Birkett relay last year. The car is fully prepared for Track Day use and comes with a second set of belts. For racing it is eligible for the BRSCC Open Sports Car series, Castle Combe GT, SEMSEC and MSVR races. For the last two years the car has been run by the Jade factory and is in first class condition having typically only been used some 5-6 times per year. |
