Description:

Caldwell D9 Formula Ford

Chassis 0001 was manufactured in 1969 and is the Prototype for the D9 series. The car was built by Autodynamics utilizing a Merlyn II A chassis and has been verified as the original by Ray Caldwell. All following Caldwell D9’s have square chassis tubing, this car, being a Merlyn has round tubing. The D9 design proved to be very competitive, winning the 1969 N/E championships driven by Skip Barber.

Dave Loring restored the car and the 1600 Cortina engine was built by Doug Frazier at DFE. Also, new glass fiber bodywork was made from the original molds.

The car is beautifully presented and ready to compete in historic Formula Ford events. This car is located at our Legends USA showroom in the North East of the United States. Legends can assist with global shipping.
