After a restructuring of the 2021 schedule due to COVID-19 concerns and working tirelessly to develop a schedule that sees the Championship visiting as many premier tracks in America as possible, the Formula Americas Super GP schedule has finally been set.

“With COVID concerns regarding travel outside the country to Mexico for the originally scheduled Monterrey event and travel to America for Mexican teams in the NACAM F4 Championship (which was to share two weekends with Formula Americas), we had to examine a new one-season schedule for 2021,” stated the Formula Americas President. “Securing dates at premier tracks that didn’t conflict with other junior open-wheel schedules at this late in the year was a task in itself, but we believe that we have come up with a great schedule for our drivers.”

The 2-day Official Pre-season Test will be held on May 1-2 at the Atlanta Motorsports Park. As originally planned, these Official Test days are included in the full Season entry and all events will remain 2-day venues to keep travel costs for drivers to a minimum.

The 15-race season will open on the weekend of May 22-23 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway which will utilize the full Road course for rounds 1-3. The Championship will then move north on June 18-19, to the Championship’s only Friday-Saturday event at the scenic Lime Rock Park in Connecticut that will host rounds 4-6 with Hooked on Driving sharing the weekend. After the July Summer Break (in which the Championship will hold several more open test days during that time), the Championship’s rounds 7-9 will start back up at the Charlotte Motor Speedway’s reconfigured ROVAL on August 14-15. Rounds 10-12 will be held on September 25-26 at Road America, a track often called the Spa of America (referring to the famous Belgian Formula 1 track). On October 23-24, the Championship will return to the Homestead-Miami Speedway for the season finale of rounds 13-15, utilizing the full road course, but this time including NASCAR turns 3 & 4 in the track layout.

The Championship ending Awards Gala will be held on the night of October 24th at the Renaissance in Coral Gables, Florida.

Due to many incomes being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Formula Americas Super GP season cost has been reduced substantially making the Championship even more affordable.

“We realize in these trying times that we need to respond to the needs of our drivers and their families,” stated Formula Americas President. “Therefore, we have chosen to restructure the cash prize purse, while still having it remain larger than then others at this level. In doing so, we have taken those savings and passed it along to reduce the cost of competing in the Championship, there by greatly benefitting all of our drivers, not just the winners.”

The cost of competing for the full season in the Formula Americas Super GP Championship is now as low as $12,990 USD per weekend for the A-class and $15,990 per weekend for the PRO class. The Prize Purse is now over $300,000 with $217,500 in cash prizes, while the Championship fund now reaches to 10th place and with the Scholarship award of a choice of either a full season in the FIA NACAM F4 Championship or $100,000 USD in cash remaining for the Champion.
