BMW M3 Group A 1986 “Blaupunkt” Car
A chance to own a genuine piece of BMW Motorsport History.
This car was built By BMW Motorsport GMBH in December 1986 and collected by Tuisku Urpiala on the 8th January 1987(see photo) and is car no 3, possibly the earliest surviving M3 Race Car! indeed this is one of the "illegal" thin roof type cars that failed post race scruitineering at the 1987 WTCC Race at Monza.
M3 No 3 was raced in four consecutive seasons from 1987-1990 including the 1987 Tourist Trophy in Silverstone where it finished ahead of the works Eggenberger RS500's due to their dnf,s and is wearing the Evo Spoliers that it finally ended up using in 1990 although it was still running its 2.3 Engine
The originality of this car is simply on another level with no big accidents and a fabulous race history to boot.
Having had a loving restoration taking over two years and costing many thousands of euros and consuming hundreds of man hours the car is simply resplendent and fully rebuilt with no area left untouched:
S14 2.3 GpA 290hp engine, fully rebuilt with only 1 hour of gentle running in time.
Original BMW Motorsport "Piggy back" ECU.
Original early "Wethje" airbox.
Getrag 5 speed fully rebuilt with original steel synchros.
Original LSD fully rebuilt.
Bilstein Suspension with original "long neck" rear dampers.
This amazing piece of iconic motorsport is ready to be used as intended at some of the world's amazing motorsport events.
