Caterham R500 Duratec
Reluctant sale of my 2009 Caterham Superlight R500. 15k miles. At around 530kg it's super agile and handles brilliantly. Love this car it's so fast and exciting but selling because I want to try slicks and wings.
It's a series 3 narrow body chassis with a 2 litre NA Ford Duratec engine producing a stunning 263bhp at 8500rpm and 177lbft of torque at 7200rpm. This goes through a floor mounted sequential straight cut gearbox and a mechanical LSD to the rear wheels. 2.9s to 60mph, 6.8s to 100mph I believe.
Standard on this car:
• 2.0-litre Caterham Motorsport Ford Duratec
• Limited Slip Differential
• Superlight Suspension (wide track front and de Dion rear with Watts linkages)
• Aerofoil wishbones
• Carbon dash, nose cone, rear and front cycle wings
• ACES change-up lights
• Ventilated front brake discs with 4 pot calipers
• 13″ Anthracite eight-spoke alloy wheels with Avon ZZR tyres
• 4 point Road Harnesses
• Quick-release Momo Steering Wheel with integrated indicator switches
• Carbon Kevlar seats
Options on this car are:
6 speed sequential gearbox
Carbon induction airbox
Race damper kit
Lowered floors (for lower seat height)
Full SLR roll cage for use with aeroscreen. Cannot fit windscreen.
Battery master switch
Plumbed in fire extinguisher
Exhaust catalyst bypass pipe
Straight black paint
Painted bonnet stripe and noseband
12V power socket
Looking for £35000. If you know Caterhams you'll know they don't depreciate much. It's so lightweight that it's very light on consumables and parts are very reasonable for a car or this performance. All helps the man or woman maths!
Included free of charge is a set of spare wheels with unused wet weather Avon ZZS tyres. One of the wheels was bought used and isn't in the best condition so a full refurb or replacement would be needed.
The car is a UK car, right hand drive and located at Nurburgring Germany. Road legal in the UK but not Germany unless you get it through a TUV. So not currently eligable for TF but I used it for track days so wasn't an issue for me. Can be shipped to UK or Western Europe.
