Merlyn Mk 11a/b ** 1969 Formula Ford (special**). FIA Historic Technical Passport. MSA Logbook (hillclimbs)
A very very pretty car with only a few blemishes. Sadly in a "silly moment" I put it in its trailer under a car cover when it was damp a year or so ago resulting in some mico blisters on the front bodywork . I was going to get it repainted and may well do if it doesn't sell and then I will put it in the local museum as I have mostly retired from motorsport.
The car spent a lot of its life racing in Austria - with plenty of receipts showing a huge amount of work. In my ownership, the car has only been used for a few sprints, so has spent the majority of the time just sitting in the garage. looking nice.
It's presently on twin 40 Webers but I have the downdraft carb and manifold to put it back to FF spec along with the rear bodywork (which would not fit over the 40s). An electric fuel pump and Filter King were installed with the 40s. I also installed a lower ratio first.
It comes with loads of bits including spare front bodywork (unpainted), mould for same, wishbones, springs, block, various engine parts and tyres/wheels etc etc.
It starts "on the button". Slight oil leak if left for a long time which has never bothered me. Temp gauge works when it feels like it otherwise all OK
** Note when I bought it there was some dubiety over the provenance of the chassis (i.e. Colchester RD or not Colchester RD ). It is what it is and that has never worried me. The seller was very up front about that when I purchased it 5 years ago and so the modest asking price reflects this apparent ambiguity . If provenance can be established this is a bargain.
More photos, videos, video call etc available upon request (my son James will be the initial point of contact due to work commitments). Obviously any inspection is welcome. Car is located in N,E Scotland.
