Starting with an original Cooper S shell the previous owner commissioned the car to be prepared to
the maximum permitted limits set out by the HGTCC regulations.
Much of this work was entrusted to World renowned rally preparation specialist Gartrac, and
included an extensive T45 roll cage fitted to a seam welded shell. The boot floor was also modified
to lower the fuel cell.
The car was raced for several seasons with notable co-drivers and recognised Mini exponents, John
Rhodes, Warwick Banks, Bill Sollis and ex-Grand Prix commentator Tony Jardine.
The bodyshell has plexiglass windows, aluminium quick release skinned doors with lightweight door
pocket panels. The one-piece quick release steel front allows excellent access to the engine and
suspension. Bonnet and boot covers are lightweight glass fibre.
During its racing life the car has undergone continuous development with many components
designed by its previous owner. Notably, the special design to the rear suspension arms, raising the
roll centre and producing negative camber geometry in roll, this results in the car being very easy on
its tyres providing consistent performance throughout any race.
