After a full restoration completed by the best known Mini specialist , Swiftune , this stunning ex James Martin is now available , due to the owners change of direction .

EGF 431B was originally purchased from Mike Youles in Febuary 2013 . Mike had owned the car since 2005 , when it was originally painted gray . The intention was to build a competitive car for James to race in many different series across the UK as well as the Goodwood Revival .

The car has featured in numerous magazines , which include Mini World 2013 Cooper World 2013 .

In August 2014 Mini World featured a 7 page article detailing the story of Jame's purchase and the whole build process by Andy Harrison of Acespeed . The article explains the decision to use the iconic Swiftune engine and gearbox ( the receipts for which are available with the car ) as well as Koni dampers . 

The colour was chosen to be the colour used by Hopkirk and Fitzpatrick cars at Aintree in 1964 according to an article in Cooper World from July 2013 .

Included in the photos below , is a photo album  , showing numerous photos of the car at handover from Andy to James to join his Team "Race-retro speed", beside his other Mini's, in it's final guise ready for the Goodwood Revival . The rear seats in the photos are available with the car as is the "cut down "passenger seat .

James raced the car extensivly with HSCC and Masters at Silverstone Classic, Croft, Zandvort as well as showing at Car Fest and Mini Festival at Beaulieu . 

The paperwork with the car also has details for the cars set up at that time with shock settings as well as camber settings . In addition there is a mountain of invoices through 2015 from Swiftune that made sure EGF 431B stayed at the very forefront of historic racing . Including winning the 2013 Mini Festival at Brands Hatch ! the original programme from the meeting is included within the paperwork .

EGF 431B was raced at the 2013 Goodwood Revival by James and Andy Harrison . In wet conditions James qualified 7 th within a second or Rob Huff in another Mini . James and Andy were to go on and both finish their part of the St Mary's and finished 14 th on aggregate  . All results available on TSL        ( hard copies available with the car .)

Then for 2015 James raced in the Saint Mary's with Jason Plato at the Revival . Again the car finished both parts with James qualifying 16 th and finished 14th  for an overall 11 th on aggregate finishing as the second Mini home behind the Swift/Chandhok car !

EGF 431B was purchased by the current owner , in 2018 from Duncan Hamilton ROFGO , with FIA papers Period F 1962-1965 vaild until 31/12/2023 .

The car was immediatly handed over to Swiftune for preparation and first time out at Donington in the wet was put on the front row in qualifying of the HRDC All Stars out of a field of 41 , showing real pace for the new owner . 

In early 2019 EGF 431B was invited back to Goodwood for the Betty Turnball Mini only race at the Members Meeting . After a technical penalty the car started 28 th and had risen to 12 th before getting caught out by some dropped oil at Madgwick with two laps to go . 

Since 2019 the car has been driven at numerous events including CSCC and the Silverstone Claasic .

In late 2020 Nick Swift , uttered those words , "I think we need to replace the wiring loom " . That turned into a total strip down , where is was discovered the need for some remedial work to the floor and some other panels . The decision was thus taken for a total restoration, which included a substanial amount of new parts , including a new roll cage that had been developed by Swiftune in conjunction with BMS Engineering . This was to be roll cage number 1 . The second was fitted to Nick Swift's car that won the 2021 Mni race at the Revial with Andrew Jordan . ( all paperwork available including Motorsport UK cerificate) . 

Below are a number of phots from the restoration , which have all been collected into an album as well as available on a USB stick .

The engine has three hours running time and on file are the bills for the restoration to where the car is today . It has not been on track since completion in December 2021 and is now ready to be a very compeitive car in the right hands .
