1959 Austin Healey 100/6 3.0 Litre Lightweight Works Rally Replica based on a RHD original UK 2 seater cockpit car converted to rally specification in 1972 by David Broadhurst and campaigned by him prior to being acquired by John Chatham since which time it has been enthusiast owned and upgraded including a nut and bolt ground up rebuild in the late 90,s with detailed photos of the work which was to the highest standard including jigged and sandblasted chassis with all new alloy bodywork and panels with all the detailed works features including front shroud with air vent and louvred bonnet with side lifting panel for carb inspection and alloy boot plus much more at a cost of over £35,000 for the body alone.
The interior has been upgraded with leather bucket seats with full harness belts and fitted carpets to limit transmission noise plus the dash has all the rally features.
Mechanically the cars Lightweight 3000 engine specification includes a Mk. 111 2996 cc engine with Sid Segal head and camshaft , lightweight balanced crankshaft, high capacity oil pump, triple Webers,high-ratio starter, six branch side exit exhaust,works sump with alloy guard, 19 row oil cooler, alloy fly wheel.
The transmission consists of a Mk.111 overdrive box with Tulip ratios (which has just had a complete overhaul by marque specialists) and a low-ratio(4.1.1) diff.
The running gear includes disc brakes to all 4 wheels,high-ratio steering rack and adjustable rear lever arm shocks.Correct period 4.5 inch wheels with sticky ZZ Avons. Plus more and more including alloy fuel tank with twin pumps,internal fuel lines and firewall in boot , full roll cage, twin spots, boot mounted reversing light, high output alternator, works type GRP hardtop with roof vent, twin spares in boot with alloy lid and with fitted toolkit.
Only 4000 miles covered since the total restoration and used twice for the Le Mans Classic this extensively upgraded car is both rapid and road friendly and is one of the best Healeys of this spec I have ever driven being taut and smooth with no vices whatsoever.
Complete with a large history file including up to date recent servicing and maintenance invoices, correspondence from previous owners, MOT test certificates, Heritage Certificate and old style buff log book currently UK registered and ready to use as a fast road car or an entrant to historic road rallying events or for more serious special stage work or to race and represents great value compared to current build cost at £89,950
