A rare opportunity to purchase a sensibly priced Formula junior restoration project. This car was fully restored in 1999 back in Australia and more recently dismantled for a further rebuild after regular competition use. It was shipped to the UK in its dismantled state and then loosely assembled.

The car was then again stripped and blasted, the chassis being repaired and straightened with the addition of a welded in roll hoop, the car was then loosley reassembled as per the latest pictures.

Lynx engineering in Australia began manufacturing Formula Junior racing cars back in 1961 having acquired the patterns and jigs for the early Ralt cars from Ron Tauranac when he moved to England to work withJack Brabham. Lynx built approximately 20 cars during 1961 and 1962.

Chassis FJ104 was completed 27/4/1961 as a rolling chassis and purchased by the Service Manager for Repco. He installed a BMC A series engine and VW transmission. The engine was originally 998cc but subsequently bored to 1074cc. The history of the car is basically complete with period photographs, letters from previous owners, historic classified adverts for the sale of the car, CAMS documents, history of lynx cars and race programs etc.

All major compenents are with the car, the original VW gearbox appears to be in excellent condition.

It will need a complete engine (also available for £1500 is rare S block with new liners/bored and fully machined) - it comes with the correct BMC/VW adapter plate, rare Lynx rocker box cover and Lynx inlet manifold together with Weber carb.

This is a rare Formula Junior and as such would be an ideal candidate for entry into the prestige events such as Monaco and Goodwood historic events.

The 2017 Goodwood Revival race is for drum brake FJ's so this one completely complies.

For sale, BMC A series engine 1098cc, refreshed and dyno’d by Swiftune last month, this engine is not a long term storage example!

it has new rings, mains, duplex chain, ignition leads and DCOE 45 carb with inlet manifold and is ready to go.

I’m sure it will give a reliable season, bargain at £7,000.
