1966 Ford Mustang Race Car - Fresh Build, FIA Cage

This car was finished at the end of 2017, after a ground up build to the very highest standard costing approx. £80k, with a view to it being a simple conversion to FIA / HTP if desired.

Bodywork / Interior: 

The car is a dry-state car that was sourced from Texas. The body was bare metal stripped, with a replacement full-floorpan and the entire car has been seam-welded and is prepared with a full FIA T45 Roll-cage, built by www.custom-fabrication.co.uk. The bodywork was then painted in a beautiful dark blue BMW colour (Agaish Blue), with painted white 'Shelby stripes'. 

The interior, engine bay and underneath of the car have been painted in a stunning gun-metal grey, to contrast the rest of the car. We commissioned a custom heated front windscreen for the car and the dash is a Shelby GT350R dash, with brand new Autometer black gauges. All controls are located on a central switch box with the gel battery and internal cut-off located in the rear passenger foot well. 

Drivetrain: 

Mechanically, the car has recieved a full overhaul, with the suspension and brakes being supplied by world-famous Shelby/Mustang campaigners in the USA - Cobra Automotive. The entire car is lowered by 1-3/4" and the handling is complimented by aluminium bushes all round. The stopping power is delivered by Cobra Automotive's big-brake 11" set up. 

The 302 5.0 V8 engine was originally built by renowned V8 builder, Mike Huddart. It has since been refreshed and tuned, but has only had road use so far - Zero racing hours. Ancillaries includes hi-torque WOSP starter, Ceramic coated Tri-Y headers, Cobra Automotive side exit pipes, Mallory distributor, Holley 650cfm double-pumper carburettor and K&N Xstream air filter. The engine is mated to a fully rebuilt Toploader gearbox and complimented by a Hurst Shifter. 

There is a Fuel Safe cell in the boot, specific to the 66 Mustang, putting the weight low down, in place of the original tank. The car is running a brand new set of Torque Thrust wheels, wrapped in Toyo R888 tyres. 

Summary:

This is probably the finest 1966 Mustang Race car in the UK, possibly even Europe - finished to the highest possible standard in every place. In it's current form, it should be eligible for SRGT/Bernies V8 series also suitable CSCC Swinging  Sixties, AMOC, Intermarque, & Spa 6 hour weekend - but with a original suspension/drivetrain, the car could easily be made eligible for FIA/Masters. 

The car is for sale due to a change in plans/circumstances and will be sorely missed. Delivery can be arranged anywhere in the UK and Part-ex with Classic cars may be considered.
