What is it?
This well-known and hugely successful fully modified racing Midget has been in the same ownership since 1978. During this time the car competed with great success both in the UK and Europe.
The full race Midget features a fully race 1460cc Peter May Engineering engine, straight cut gearbox, Four-wheel brake disc conversion, coil-over rear suspension, LSD and 10 inch slicks and weighs approximately 510kg.
While the car has not been recently raced , it has received a complete overhaul, new paint work, new wide arch Ashley front and GT hard top in 2011. The car was originally built for use in the highly competitive MG Midget Championship. The Midget comes with a huge file on its history and was also featured in John Baggot’s “Mighty Midgets and Special Sprites’ book.
The car was a regular competitor in the MGCC Midget Championship in the 1980s gaining multiple race wins and podiums during its time in the championship. The owner also raced the Midget extensively in Europe with great success. The car is particularly quick at Spa finishing a remarkable 8th overall in the 1996 FIA Group 4 race ahead of Lola T70's, T4925 and Brabham BT8.
