1965 Beach MK4B Series II Sports Racer  Chassis #108

 

Brief History:

Chassis 108 was first purchased from Gene Beach by Russ Norburn in 1967.  The detail owner history of the chassis and major SCCA championship race entries may be found in John Rankin Beach website.   Original SCCA log books dating back to 1980 are included and a comprehensive documentation of the chassis history.   The current owner purchased the frame and body from John Rankin in September 2018 and restored the car for and accepted by CSRG for CSRG vintage events in 2019.   The car was painted in the same livery as the original owner in 1967.     At the first CSRG vintage event, the car was awarded the “Best Appearing Sports Racer”.   No track events for 2020/2021.  For 2022 the car has participated in SCCA Time Trials at Thunderhill Raceway Park.

 

 

Chassis: Beach Tube Frame Chassis #108, stiffening tubes/roll hoop/forward braces added to fit 6’1”, 200lb driver

Body: Reproduction Beach MK4B Series II , new 2018, purchased from John Rankin

Engine:  Lotus Twin Cam 1588 CC, new block/new crank/new rods/new pistons/new Twin Cam head/valves/springs and cams from Tony Ingram, Weber Carbs, custom exhaust header.   Total time on engine: 10 hours

Gearbox: Hewland Mk9 5 Speed with Quaffe differential

Brakes:  Disc Rotors w/ period correct AP Calipers Front/Rear

Front Hubs:  Dave Bean Aluminum Hubs with ARP Studs

Shocks: Adjustable AVO  Shocks

Springs: Coil over

Front and rear adjustable anti-roll bars

Fuel system:  ATL Fuel Bladder with custom collector tank

2 sets of wheels: one set American Racing 4 Spoke Magnesium wheels (crack checked and chromated), one set of Real Racing Wheels spun aluminum wheels.  Used period correct treaded tires fitted.
