This example was the last 458 Challenge Evo sold new in Asia. It left the factory in February 2015 and was campaigned for just 2 years in the Asia Pacific series. At the end of this period Continental Cars Ferrari acquired a batch of these cars. They were then onsold to clients locally for them to use on track days. This example has had one owner in New Zealand, for whom we’re currently selling it on behalf.

Following in the footsteps of the 348, 355, 360 and F430, the 458 Challenge is the fifth model fielded by Ferrari for the one-make Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli championship.

Much like its predecessors, the 458 Challenge was largely based on its road-going sibling, the 458 Italia, albeit with a plethora of optimisations for on the track.

The 4.5-litre, naturally aspirated V8 engine remained largely untouched, still producing 570bhp at 9,000rpm. Only minor changes to the gear ratios and recalibration of the dual-clutch F1 gearbox were deemed necessary for the track version, and even then only to improve low-range torque to improve drivability on circuits.

Significant changes were made the chassis, bodywork and interior of the car. To begin with weight savings were achieved with the reduction in thickness of aluminium body panels and in certain areas replacement with carbon-fibre. In addition the glass windows and windscreen were replaced with polycarbonate alternatives. Complementing the weight savings were changes to the suspension setup with shorter, stiffer springs and lighter alloy dampers which also lowered the car by two inches. Solid steel motorsport bushings replaced conventional rubber items and 19-inch forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli slicks completed the track-focused configuration.

The 458 Challenge was also the first of the series to offer drivers the assistance of F1-Trac stability control, with three modes permitting progressively more assistance from the onboard electronics to aid less experienced drivers in low-grip conditions.

Dry Weight: 1220kg Compression Ratio:12.5:1 Power: 570bhp at 9000 rpm Torque: 540 Nm at 6000 rpm
