Fisher Fury Spyder- Ford Zetec 2.0 (2002)- Road Legal.
This is my car that I purchased in 2020 from Mark Tracey. He bought this car from Rod Stead the original owner so I am only the 3rd owner of the car. The original owner only did 500 miles in the car before dry storing it for years. When Mark purchased the car he intended to use it but only put another 100 or so miles on the car and since I have owned it I have done 2 track days and a few short road miles so the car has done under 1000 miles from new.
I wanted a race car that was road legal and I found exactly that with this car.
One of the main reasons for pulling the trigger on my purchase was the endorsement of this particular car from Mr. Fisher Fury, Mark Fisher who personally built this car in 2002- This was a factory built car with in the words of Mark “all of the top spec optional extras”. I was very grateful to Mark for taking the time to talk to me during the purchase. Please see a list of the optional extras to help you understand the spec of this car below:
Fully braced roll-over bar with brace.
Zetec sports exhaust system in stainless steel.
5 speed Sierra gearbox specially buily by BGH Geartech (heavy duty) with a long first ratio.
Aluminium bellhousing by New Rally Design.
Race bucket seats.
Full wiring loom- battery/ battery cut-off switch.
Flat dashboard/ ignition switch/ column stalks.
Full lighting pack.
Full instrumentation 5 dial set (tacho, speedo, oil pressure, water temp & fuel).
8.5 gallon petrol tank/ flush fit fuel filler cap.
Lowered rose jointed suspension at front.
Kunifer brake lines- steel braided hoses.
Spyder lightweight body pack (woven mat), wind deflector.
Lightweight silver powder coated chassis.
Quick ratio steering rack.
Fully adjustable Spax shock absorbers.
4 Pot Willwood brake system.
Grooved front brake disks.
Aluminium front hubs.
Brake bias adjustment from cockpit.
Modified cylinder head.
Weber Alpha fuel injection/ ignition system.
Higher spec big end bolts.
Fire extinguisher- plumbed in.
Lightened flywheel/ clutch and all ancillaries.
Although the low mileage appealed to me I was aware of a number of things that needed addressing when I purchased the car so I replaced the following to bring the car up to a perfect standard:
Complete cooling system hosing including Y & T pieces (upgraded to blue silicone).
Complete fuel line and filter replacement.
All suspension bushes and bolts.
Shallow sump & gasket.
Quaife LSD (full refurb from EDSL Motorsport).
Corner weighting & setup.
Upgraded front & rear lights to LED.
2 X Oil & filter changes.
After doing this remedial work I then did my first track day at Snetterton and the car ran beautifully and handled impeccably. Please see below a link to the onboard:
