Talbot Lago Barchetta T26 4500 SS
Description:
Description
In the early 1950s, the Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport (GS) emerged as a beacon of French automotive excellence, blending luxury with racing pedigree. The 1952 Talbot-Lago LM Barchetta, a rare and exhilarating open-top variant, was powered by a formidable 4.5-liter (4483 cc) six-cylinder inline engine, producing around 170 hp in its road-going form, though tuned versions for racing could push significantly higher outputs, with some sources citing up to 240 hp in competition spec. Designed under Antonio Lago’s vision and engineered by Carlo Marchetti, this twin-camshaft powerhouse was paired with a four-speed manual or optional Wilson pre-selector gearbox, delivering a top speed of approximately 170 km/h (105 mph).
Reborn as a racing machine, this Talbot-Lago LM Barchetta became a globetrotting competitor, its 4.5-liter engine roaring through historic races worldwide. The rebody not only preserved the car’s legacy but also amplified its performance, making it a standout in vintage racing events.
