A 1972 Europa Special with Big Valve Twin Cam engine and 5-speed gearbox in beautiful, original condition.

Unused and carefully stored for decades in the private collection of a BRDC member, now retired from motorsport, this Special was recommissioned in early 2024 . Preparation by Classic Lotus specialists included a detailed inspection, replacement of perished or worn parts and rebuild of main systems for MoT.

Suspension and steering components replaced included ball joints and track rod ends. Brakes were rebuilt with new caliper pistons, seals, and pipes and hoses. Fuel system was stripped and rebuilt with new pump, carburettor diaphrams, jets and O-rings. Gearbox mounts, cooling hoses and spark plugs were replaced. Detailed invoices available, with original parts retained.

Bodywork is original and in very good condition. Front and rear bumpers have been professionally re-chromed.

Oatmeal interior is original, clean and virtually unmarked. Aftermarket 1970’s accessories include Cannon anti-theft unit with PIN keypad on dashboard and under-dash storage box for compact cassettes.

Big Valve Twin Cam starts easily and settles to idle with strong oil pressure, no leaks and impressive performance.

Lotus documentation includes original Owner’s Handbook, Service Voucher Book and Service Manual.

The car is a delight to drive and ready to enjoy, needing only superficial fettling to achieve its full glamour.
