Description:

One of 4 Royale 18A cars built in the UK and sent out to Bob Wallace in the USA in 1974 to race in the feeder series for Indy Car. The series used air cooled modified VW type 4 engines, which changed to water cooled VW Rabbit/Golf from 1975. 
The car was then repurposed for the SCCA Auto Solo championship through the 80’s & early 90’s fitted with a B&M supercharger and various huge wings to keep thecar on the ground.
 

A conversation with Royale's owner Alan Cornock, confirmed that all the parts for the car with the exception of the cast rear uprights are still available.

The car is currently stripped for a rebuild, the engine componets have been measured and tested and are all in good condition. The engine and componets have also been CO2 blasted.

Many, Many pictures of the built up car and the strip down come with the car as a part of the package on a USB stick.
Engine: Type 4 VW extensively reworked. Five barrel studs/cylinder. Believed to be Porsche Barrels and piston with an approx displacement of 2.8 litres. The engine is missing rocker gear and pushrods ( didn't come with it )
1.2 L B&M supercharger. Holley four barrel carb. 

Hewland MK8 Gear box. (ratios unknown) turns freely with no apparent lash or bearing wear,  - also had beautifully clean oil in it when I purchesd the car - casing in great condition - but untested.

The Engine was stripped and inspected by Ol Taylor-Lane 

MSD ignition moduls and electronic distributor.
Wheels are split rims - tyres hold air but are unserviceable. A number of additional wheels come with the package.

The car also has a number of nose cones  (different shapes and styles. And various wings/foils.

The Multi Fin wing in the period pictures is no longer with the car but a large wing to modify is included (see pictures). The car is missing its steering wheel ( easily rectified )

This car is currently dissassembled (as per the 2nd picture) its a project or spares and will only be sold as a complete package. The trailer or anything other than listed is NOT included . 

The gearbox is a Hewland Mk8 Serial number 2214, non LSD.no play in the input shaft bearing, no damage to the casing. Four Speed non limited slip diff.

The chassis and componet parts  are currently available for inspection at the Classic Collective Workshop in Bicester.
