2004 (53) Mini Cooper S R53.  Road legal, modified for Speed Hillclimbs and Sprints, eligible for Class A3 in ASWMC class structure.  Very reliable, tidy car, looks great with only 85026 miles. MOT’d until 20 April 2026.  Done around 400 miles since build from road car into its current form, mainly road miles with 9 events.

Lowered 40mm, Direzza track springs

205/40/17 Yokohamo A052 front tyres (done 3 events), Nankang AR-1 rear tyres (nearly end of life).  Set of standard road tyres part used (wets).

Body & Interior

Exterior - standard Cooper S, JCW bumpers & skirts

Interior - Pair of Sparco bucket seats and 6 point Sparco harnesses (HANS compatible).  Seats mounted on modified standard runners so retains full adjustability. New in 2024.

Engine and Transmission

Bottom end of engine standard.

Cylinder Head - inlet ports standard, deburred, cleaned and finished to the optimum as cast finish. Inlet manifold match ported to head. Exhaust ports gently enlarged, match ported to manifold.

Newman PH3/4 Cam

Valve heads radiused and reground.

Combustion chambers cleaned and cc’d.

Reinz full Head gasket set and new head bolts

4 into 1 Stainless Exhaust manifold with Profusion Heavy Duty Flexi joint.  Sports Cat into large 2.5 inch stainless profusion front silencer, into 2 x stainless rear exhaust boxes.  Sounds good and always under the 98 DB noise limit, passes Castle Combe drive by noise test.

New timing chain and tensioner, guides etc.

Bespoke intake set up.  BMW 70mm throttle body, custom located at front of the engine bay with direct cold air intake via K&N filter.

Lightweight TTV single mass flywheel

New clutch kit

Later 2006 transmission (BKL) - lower final drive ratio and LSD - reconditioned, faultless.

2006 ECU - allows programming of ECU to 7250 rpm.

Rolling Road set up at PVE, Chard.  238 hp at 7100rpm.  Lots of torque, easy to drive.

15% Supercharger pulley & 2% Crank pulley.

550cc bosch injectors

NGK ‘8’s - colder spark plugs

Honda Civic alloy radiator, Davies Craig electric water pump system.  Very efficient.

Performance intercooler with cold air ‘box’ to ensure all air entering the inlet duct goes through the intercooler.

Intake tract matched at every joint.

Recently had engine and gearbox oil change (inc filter), coolant change, supercharger oil change, brake and clutch fluid change, power steering fluid change.

New alternator

 

ALL original parts come with the car as well as some spares, belts etc, including the leather front seats (lounge), carpets, AC system, exhaust, radiator.  We built this from a standard road car early in 2024, can be put back to full road spec easily.
