Description:

AOD 787A was first registered in 1963 as a Mk 1 Super de luxe 2 door saloon. It  retains its original Smoke Grey paintwork and much of the interior trim  Its provenance is authenticated by a BMC Heritage Certificate.  Subsequently it has been modified for the track and subjected to a massive overhaul which involved stripping down to the bare body shell.  A 998cc engine which runs sweetly with good oil pressure was installed to enhance it to Mini Cooper standard.  Period correct front and rear competition subframes were fitted, with Polybushes wherever possible, together with rear suspension arms and shock absorbers, Goodridge brake hoses and Cooper S competition brakes with Alfin rear drums.  Polycarbonate race windows were installed in the original window sliders.  A Cobra FIA race seat, FIA fire extinguisher, FIA race belts, and an LED rain light are amongst other additions to prepare it for the track.  The rear seats were lightened but the original trim was retained. The Safety Devices cage and removable door bars were painted in BMC Farina Grey before fitting.   

This lively and very good looking Mini Cooper is ready for test and would be an ideal introduction to the circuit. It retains its V5 so could also be used on the road if desired.

Recent work to prepare the car for sale includes the following:   

All running gear and subframes, tightened, greased  and torqued  

Safety Devices Harness Bar and 3 seat belt anchor nuts fitted 

New rear light unit fitted 

Fuel tank removed and refitted with padding, clamp and neck to body seal 

Fuel line modified, re-routed and refitted with correct fuel line clamps  

In-line fuel filter fitted before carburettor 

Carburettor removed and refitted with new gasket and throttle return spring 

New air filter fitted 

Throttle cable replaced 

New clutch master cylinder fitted 

Hard brake lines replaced 

Front calipers stripped and rebuilt with new seals 

Vacuum advance line fitted 

New Speedo cable fitted 

Front driveshafts stripped, cleaned, sandblasted and repainted 

Braided oil pressure feed hose fitted 

Dash loom modified to work with instrument cluster 

New switch panel installed with full complement of switches 

Proper functionality of all switches checked, corrected and labelled 

70 amp relay for ignition switch fitted
