Overview

Offered for sale is Lola Formula Ford chassis 200/F3/21, a genuine period car with well-documented history and a comprehensive professional restoration. The car now features a fully rebuilt Kent engine with zero kilometres and has not been run since completion. 

Provenance & History

• March 1970: Originally sold new in the USA to Carl Haas (Lola USA importer). Intended as a reserve car and never raced during this period.

• Early 1980s: Sold to Murray Chalmers (California) and campaigned in numerous amateur Formula Ford races.

• Circa 2012: Returned to Europe, owned by Gary Sproul (Scotland).

• May 2018: Purchased by previous owner from Esprit Competition (Paul Ricard), a very well-known historic racing team.

• December 2025: taken in p/x for another vehicle by us. 

Restoration Work (Esprit Competition)

The car was restored from bare chassis, including:

• Chassis epoxy painted

• All suspension components plated

• New Spax dampers and springs

• Rebuilt steering rack

• New bearings throughout

• New wiring loom

• New instruments and gauges

• New brake master cylinder

• New brake piston seals

• New Aeroquip brake lines

• New oil tank

• New oil lines

• New silencer

• New bodywork, paint, and windscreen

The Hewland Mk8 gearbox was fully rebuilt at the same time.

Engine (Ford Kent)

• April 2021: Car completed one race before a head gasket failure. At that time, the engine was the only major component not previously rebuilt.

• Engine subsequently rebuilt properly and comprehensively by a French specialist, including:

  • New complete cylinder head

  • New pistons

  • New race carburettor

  • New race distributor

Engine has completed 0 km since rebuild.
