2005 Four Winds Fun Mover 31C — Race Truck / Crew Motor
Description:
Self-contained race support vehicle. Workshop in the back, crew quarters up front, and enough off-grid power to run it all without a hook-up. Just spent £14.5K on a comprehensive mechanical overhaul. MOT'd. Ready to drive to your next event.
The Vehicle
2005 Four Winds Fun Mover 31C on the Ford E-450 Super Duty platform. 6.8L V10 Triton with Prins VSI LPG dual-fuel conversion — run it on autogas at roughly half the cost of petrol. Automatic, RWD. Resprayed in metallic grey. 7 belted travel seats.
This was purpose-built as a race truck and has been used as one — paddock accommodation and mobile workshop at circuit meetings.
Rear Workshop / Garage
The rear section is a dedicated workshop accessed via a full-width, full-height roller shutter door and a separate side entrance with removable access stairs. This isn't a converted living area with the sofa pushed aside — it's a proper working space built for the job.
Room for tools, spares, wheels, and equipment. Load in through the roller shutter, work from either entrance. Large external awning extends the usable covered space outside.
Crew Accommodation (9 Berths)
- 1x large overcab double
- 2x doubles in the main living area (dinette + sofa conversions)
- 3x single bunks
Full kitchen with range, microwave, and fridge. Bathroom with shower. Furnace heating. Brand new Dometic FreshJet FJZ7 3000 roof air conditioner (£2,825 RRP) — 3kW cooling, 2.5kW heating, inverter compressor, Wi-Fi control, CleanAir filtration, and Adaptive Power Mode for low-amp hook-ups. Wired to the 240V consumer unit. Plus fully rebuilt engine A/C in the cab. Driver and passenger seats re-upholstered in Ford GT40 style.
Bring your whole crew. Everyone sleeps. Everyone has a belted seat for the drive home.
Off-Grid Electrical System (Victron)
This is where it gets serious. The entire electrical system has been rebuilt around Victron Energy components:
- Victron MultiPlus-II 3000W inverter/charger — pure sine wave 230V from the battery bank, or charge from shore power/generator
- Roamer 460Ah LiFePO4 battery — 5.9 kWh of lithium storage, 10-year warranty
- Victron SmartSolar MPPT charge controller fed by 2x SolarWorld 270W monocrystalline panels (540W total on the roof)
- Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC charger — charges the house battery from the alternator while driving
- Victron Cerbo GX with GX Touch screen — monitor everything from a built-in display, or remotely via the VRM Portal
- Victron SmartShunt battery monitor
- Victron Lynx Power In distribution system
Run your compressor, charge your laptops, power your data logging kit, light the workshop — all from the battery bank, topped up by solar during the day and the alternator on the drive. No need for a noisy generator in the paddock (though there's a Honda GX onboard if you want one).
Starlink satellite internet is fitted on the roof and wired in. Wifi6 network - Live timing, data uploads, video streaming — from any circuit, any field, any car park.
LPG Dual-Fuel
Prins VSI conversion on the 6.8L V10 with 2x large rear-mounted LPG tanks (upgraded from the original single tank, March 2025) and an additional fill point. Autogas is roughly 85p/litre vs. £1.45+ for petrol. On a vehicle with a V10, that's the difference between wincing every time you fill up and actually using it.
