FF1600 Kent Engine (N.Bold/C.Beck)
Description:
Built by Neil Bold in 2013 from a 711M road engine on a T20 block — the last and thickest 711M casting Ford produced, and short of a South African AX, the best foundation for an FF1600 engine. Every build component bought new at the time; the original N. Bold receipt comes with the sale. Finished in RAL5008 (to match the Merlyn as I didn't want the standard blue at the time)
History
• 2013 — Installed in a rebuilt Merlyn Mk20. Two outings: Silverstone and Oulton Park.
• 2013–2023 — Dry stored.
• 2023 — Fully refreshed by Craig Beck (via BM Racing).
• Since — Two Anglesey single-seater track days.
Recently removed as the Mk20 was sold as a rolling chassis.
No dyno figures, so I won’t quote numbers I can’t back up. What I can say is it’s the best engine I’ve ever had, and every other FF driver who drove the Mk20 said the same unprompted.
Selling because I kept it in case my son or I raced again, but that’s years away. Better used than sat in the garage.
