BMW R53 Mini Cooper S Race, Track day, Hill climb car 55000m
This car was built by a professional engineer from all new parts with the collaboration of EDM Motorsport who are one of the leading Super Cooper Cup Series Mini race car builders. Nearly £12000 was spent on parts and £7500 on labour in addition to the acquisition cost of the base car. It has only been used for 4 hill climbs and a dozen track days since being built. I have concentrated on using my historic rally car over this period.
Base Car:
The R53 is the supercharged version. It was replaced in 2006 with a turbo charged engine. There is no turbo lag with the supercharged engine. The very best low mileage road car was sourced with a full service history. It was and still is in superlative condition. It has still only done 55000 miles from new. It has been serviced after every 3 events with a major service every year. The car has been completely reliable since it was built. It is now for sale as I am an OAP and retiring from motorsport.

1320 Mini engine remap. It produces 250bhp at fly and 214 bhp at wheels

4 into 1 manifold with cat and de-cat pipes
Engine revs to 7300 rpm but this is changeable because of the mappable ECU
