1978 MG B Roadster Race Car
A fantastic historic racer finished in Inca Yellow and offering CSCC Swinging Sixties eligibility. Valid UK V5c available and accompanied by an extensive history folder outlining race preparation invoices, upgrades and race results.
The MG B Roadster was first race prepared in the mid 1990’s, proceeding to compete in several club championships before the new millennium, successfully competing in the ’98 MGCC Moss International Speed Championship and ’99 ANWCC Sprint Championship.
Records highlight the MG B standard 1,798cc engine was rebored to 1,950cc in 1983, with further mention of the work again dated 1999. Following a recent dyno report, the MG B is recorded putting out 106.09 bhp, 24% more power over the factory output.
For the last 2 decades the MG B has been an active member of the MB Car Cub (MGCC), regularly competing in club races including the 53rd International Race Meeting, Silverstone International Circuit in 2003.
In more recent years the MG B has been campaigned by a racing enthusiast father and daughter duo. Actively competing in the CSCC’s Swinging Sixties events racing at Silverstone International, Snetterton 300, Thruxton, Donington Park and Brands Hatch.
At the beginning of 2020 the engine received a refresh, seeing special attention given to the oil pump and drive gear. All bearings and rings were found in perfect conditions, a testament to the level of care and maintained the classic racer has received over the years.
Presented today in Inca Yellow with a White hardtop, the exterior remains in great condition, with very few signs of track damage, a result of consistent care during campaigning. The interior has been stripped to a lightweight specification; however, the original dash trim and a fascia remain, a nod to the originality of the car. The MG B has been finished off with a complete roll cage, cabin plumbed in extinguisher system, Tillet race seat and four-point quick release racing harness.
