Description:
If the Crosslé 25F set a new benchmark from 1972 and dominated Formula Ford in the years that followed, the 30F of 1975-76 was longer, sleeker and even more successful.
30F drivers Thierry Boutsen, Derek Daly, Eddie Jordan, David Kennedy, Rod Bremner, Kenny Acheson, Jan Lammers, Arie Lyuendyk, Michael Bleekmolen, Jim Vermeulen, Dennis Firestone, Jeff Andretti, and others won many races on their way to stardom.
More recently 30F Crosslés have beaten everything in pre-1982 historic racing across Europe, featuring prominently at major events (great poster from Dijon 2019, for example).
This particular 30F is offered from the private collection of Eddie Irvine, ex-Scuderia Ferrari, whose single-seater career began in a later Crosslé. The car has been painstakingly restored and race-prepared by Formula Ford specialist and ex-works stalwart Stephen Patton.
Original chassis is in excellent condition, thoroughly checked and powder-coated in original grey after addition of a 32F-style front roll hoop HANS/FHR harness mountings. Hewland Mk9 gearbox has been rebuilt inside a new main casing, complete with final ratios. Patton engines regularly win at the Walter Hayes and Formula Ford Festival meetings. This engine was rebuilt and dyno tested with exceptional performance and no running hours since.
Many other parts have been replaced or refurbished including aluminium panels, suspension parts and brakes. RT40 battery brings the car to race weight. Harness and extinguisher can be renewed before delivery.
Bodywork shown here is new, never raced, and professionally painted for static display in deep metallic blue. For racing, Crosslé can supply a complete set of lightweight brand-new 30F bodywork, gel-coated and finished in your colour of choice. We can also advise on graphics to replicate cars of 30F stars in period.
This car is in excellent condition, ready to race and built to win. Many details reflect the race craft and experience of its restorer.
The car can be viewed at the Crosslé factory, a few minutes from Belfast City Airport, or track-tested by arrangement during a day-trip from many European airports. We export world-wide and can deliver this 30F anywhere.
