History:   Built by Les Redmond in 1958. Its Alloy body was fabricated by Williams and Pritchards. The Moorland Climax was powered by the 1100 Coventry Climax .  Its first Race was at Goodwood Race Circuit April 1959 and was driven by the late Formula One driver Chris Bristow.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who will make the commitment to restore this race car. And, in doing so, preserve a piece of Britsh racing history. I see no reason why it would not be invited to compete in the Goodwood Historical Races after its restoration .

I have owned The Moorland for 37 years and and ran with the VSCCA. In September 1989 Rich Taylor recreated the known formula libre race that took place at Limerock Race Track in 1959.  Taylor approached me in the paddock and asked if I would be the ringer with the Moorland Climax to complete the grid in this recreation race. The incredible mix of cars and drivers such as Sterling Moss, Roger Ward, Bobby Akin and John Fitch to list a few were on the track. 

When I aquired The Moorland it was cannibalized quite a bit. The 1100 Climax engine was gone and in its place was a BMC 1098 engine.  Its original rear suspension was removed and replaced with something else that can not be identified. I hired JR Mitchell who at the time was chief mechanic for Bobby Akin Racing . Mitchell turned The Moorland into a raceable car.

The Moorland Has been sitting in dry storge for the past 7 years but it gets started and driven around a bit.  

It is in As Is condiction today.
