This genuine Lotus Cortina has lived most of its life in the US, where it was shipped directly from the factory as confirmed by the Lotus records on file with the car. The Lotus factory records say 'U.S.A Racing' against the chassis number, so some 60's racing history may be traceable. It was built into a historic racecar by noted US collector and racer Ross Bremer in 1995. It then spent the next 20 years racing in the US, driven by the owner and guest drivers who included Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir John Whitmore and Allan Moffatt. It has appeared at many of the most prestigious vintage events in America, including 100 years of Ford Racing, Amelia Island and Watkins Glen. An extensive history file accompanies the car and shows the careful attention and maintenance the car has received.  

Imported to the UK in 2018, the car was then fully rebuilt by Alan Mann Racing into European historic racing specification. It has been successfully tested and is ready to go. The current owner changed his plans and will no longer be racing, so the car is available freshly rebuilt. It would make a perfect starter car for someone new to historic racing. I can’t think of a more fun and rewarding way to learn key historic driving techniques of sliding, preserving momentum and mechanical sympathy.
