Ford GT40 by KVA with English vehicle registration document!

The chassis and bodywork were supplied by KVA in 1986, but it was only registered for the first time in 2000 (UK registration – KVA). Like all good GT40 replicas, this one is right-hand drive, with the gear lever positioned on the right side. All of this stays true to the spirit of that era. The interior also features a Le Mans passenger seat and a custom bucket seat for the driver. A historical dashboard faithfully replicates the original models, providing a vintage race feel the moment you step into the cockpit.

The car is powered by a Ford 302Ci (4942 cc) engine producing approximately 285 hp, which is fed by a Holley 600CFM 4-barrel carburetor mounted on an Edelbrock manifold. These carburetors are paired with a set of 2 Facet fuel pumps. The gearbox is a 5-speed, reinforced and upgraded with quaife gears and a limited-slip differential. To keep this car firmly planted on the road, it is equipped with 4 Spax adjustable dampers. Behind the 4 alloy wheels with center-locking nuts, large ventilated and grooved disc brakes are operated by a pair of Tilton master cylinders. For improved handling, the car is also fitted with front and rear anti-roll bars.

Safety has been taken into account as well. Inside, a roll cage is installed, a Sparco fire extinguisher system has been added, a pair of 3″ safety harnesses, circuit breakers, and an FIA LED rain light complete the package. For racing enthusiasts or track days, the alloy wheels are fitted with AVON CR6-77 tires, sized 225/60R15 in the front and 275/55R15 in the rear, providing maximum grip.

This GT40 handles excellently in both normal and race modes and looks extremely cool in its British racing green color scheme with white racing stripe. The black wheels add to its aggressive appearance. The GT40 comes with an assembly manual, invoices, and a set of new unused Avon race tires.”

Located initially at Manchester and then at Poole in Dorset, GT Developments soon established itself as one of the foremost manufacturers of accurate GT40 replicas. Commencing in the early 1980s, GTD had started out making sub assemblies for Kenneth Vincent Attwell’s KVA GT40 replica before going on to make complete cars. Ken Attwell had been a senior production manager at Ford’s Swansea factory, and while there was responsible for taking body moulds from an original car, which he then received permission to use to build replicas.

Under the supervision of Ray Christopher, a director of the company, GT Developments later went on to build their own version in its entirety. It is this link via KVA to an original GT40 that made the GTD version superior to its rivals, plus the fact that Ray had concluded an agreement with Bob Lutz, then head of Ford Europe, for the supply of genuine parts.
