In the Porsche collector's field, the 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 type 964 occupies a place of absolute prominence. Porsche's intention from the outset was to develop a customer racing car capable of competing not only in national races, but also in the major international series existing at the time.
The RSR 3.8 could be ordered with different types of exhaust and intake filters to comply with the technical regulations of the various racing series at the time. This included compliance with the technical regulations of the ADAC GT Cup, the BPR series and a number of major international endurance events such as the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, Spa-Francorchamps, Daytona and, of course, Le Mans.
In order to homologate the new car in accordance with FIA regulations, at least 100 examples had to be built, which were made by combining the production numbers of the RS 3.8 road car and the RSR itself.
In 1993, Stadler Motorsport, with the support of Porsche's racing division, used chassis 409083 from an earlier 964 Cup to build an original RSR 3.8. In the same year, the car participated in its first race in the BPR Global GT Series and has remained accident-free throughout its racing history.
Currently equipped with its original chassis, an original factory RSR engine with around 30 hours of use, and with the original gearbox completely rebuilt in 2014 by Stadler Motorsport, the car is in perfect condition that enhances its importance.
