This 1965 Volvo Amazon was built in 1995 by Safety Devices to contest the historic safari rally which it has done several times. The brief was to build the untimate bullet proof Group 2 car with full FIA papers, [now lapsed],this is the result. It features a seam-welded reinforced shell with Safety Devices roll cage, works transmission tunnel and works rear shock location for quick change, Bilstein shocks, triple skinned sills with reinfored jacking points, Polycarbonate windows f/g boot & bonnet, with a custom wiring harness. It has a custom built pedal box with twin cylinders with f/r balance, comp calipers, hyd h/b with factory lengthened lever. Corbeau seats and TRS belts. Lifeline plumbed in fire extinguisher [needs a refill], and new hand held extinguisher. The branz timer is new. Also fitted with new electric power steering. New battery. The engine is Swedish built ENEM unit delivering 164 bhp at the wheels [with dyno sheets]. Fitted with a Sandex staight cut close ratio gearbox, reinforced rear axle with Spicer axle shafts. 50+lt ali fuel tank with twin Facet fuel pumps. comes with 2 sets of spare wheels, one with used Pirelli Scorpion and one set with new Dunlops. It comes with FIA papers, MSA Motorsport passport and log book. Has 2003 Safari Rally history and was three times British Rally champion.
