An authentic works WRC, with a prestigious track record, also driven by legend Valentino Rossi, and ready to race… and win!
- The year 2010 would mark the end of the Ford Focus after more than 10 years of competition, marked by two manufacturers' titles (2006-2007). But the Focus would not have the expected ending, despite a fine victory by Mikko Hirvonen at the Rally of Sweden, the team would once again be unable to counter the Citroëns of Sébastien Loeb and the young and promising Sébastien Ogier. Ford would nevertheless obtain an honorable runner-up world championship position (the third consecutive) and two victories by Jari-Matti Latvala at the Rally of New Zealand and the Rally of Finland.
- Like Citroën with its DS3 WRC, Ford brought a new car onto the scene for the 2011 season, the Fiesta RS. It was developed for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport for use in the World Rally Championship, and would be entered from 2011 to 2016. Built from a "civilian" Ford Fiesta, it complies with the new World Rally Car regulations for 2011, based on existing Super 2000 regulations. It is powered by the Ford 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (and not by the naturally aspirated 2-liter engine of Super 2000 cars).
- First outing, first victory: the Fiesta RS WRC won its first rally in Sweden in 2011 thanks to Mikko Hirvonen, while Jari-Matti Latvala closed this first season with a fine victory in Great Britain. The end of the season was also marked by Hirvonen's departure to the Citroën team, before returning for the 2014 season, supported by Elfyn Evans, 2012 Junior WRC World Champion, and Robert Kubica in a semi-official team.
- The car that illustrates these pages, chassis number M-Sports #43, is the one used by Hirvonen for the second half of the 2014 season, before becoming Evans' mount for the first part of the 2015 season... Over 10 official entries at the pinnacle of world rally elite, #43 would finish 8 times in the Top 5, and bring 3 podiums back to the factory. In 2014, Hirvonen finished 4th in the World Championship; in 2015, Evans finished 7th. During its factory period, the car was also entrusted to the MotoGP legend, Valentino Rossi for the 2014 Monster Energy Rally Show at Monza. As comfortable on 2 wheels as on 4, he finished 2nd in the event... It was actually to him that M-Sport sold #43 after its official period. We would thus find our Fiesta RS WRC now entered by the VR 46 Monster Rally Team at the 2016 Monster Energy Rally Show, an event won that year by The Doctor at the wheel of #43.
- While this highly desirable and effective Fiesta RS WRC is presented today with its Valentino Rossi livery, it should be noted that it changed hands again in 2017, and continued to race on a national scale, in Italy, then in France, in private hands, sometimes rented. While the car has not raced since 2019, it has nevertheless benefited from a complete overhaul, including a completely rebuilt engine at Pipo, the company that had developed this engine for M-Sport... Factory car, driven by two of the best drivers of their generation, then owned by legend Valentino Rossi, this incredible WRC is ready to race – and win again! – and is sold with a substantial spares package.
