Ford Fiesta Race Car Description

Chassis 007 Fiesta Thundersaloon built by Sonny Howard Preparations.

Built in 1988/89 for Tony Paxman to compete in the British Thundersaloon Series using a 2000cc BDX engine. The car has also been raced by Tommy Field, Barry Lee and Alf Boarer.

Now running a rebuilt and serviced Ford Cosworth Turbo, producing a safe 352 bhp and 380 lb-ft torque, with switchable maps. The engine has just been mapped and set up on a rolling road (August 2024) and includes:

• New timing belts
• T34 Turbo Technics Stage 3 hybrid turbo
• New pipework
• New water pump
• Group A head gasket
• Baffled wet sump
• Omex 600 management system with race loom
• 650cc ASNU injectors

• Large alloy radiator with twin cooling fans
• Custom exhaust manifold
• Side exit exhaust with alloy flame shield
• Large one-piece alloy undertray/sump guard
• Custom alloy fuel tank
• Bosch 044 fuel pump
• Swirl pot and fuel gauge mounted over the rear wheels
• AP 6-paddle clutch
• Brand new T5 gearbox with quick shift (zero miles)
• Completely rebuilt ZF LSD Atlas axle
• New square shafts, plates and seals
• New 3.7 CWP
• Custom Bilstein rear suspension with adjustable bump and rebound
• 4-link rear suspension with Panhard rod

Brakes & Exterior

• Ex-Ford AP WRC front brakes with titanium pistons
• New brake pads plus spare set (the best brakes I've ever used)
• AP 2-pot rear brakes

Also fitted with:

• New polycarbonate side windows
• Original glass side windows included
• Heated front screen
• Road V5 registration document
• Headlights
• FIA metal front tow eye
• Two rear tow straps
• High-level LED brake light
• Two internal brake lights
• Rear fog/rain light
• Removable high-level rear spoiler

The car was fully repainted inside and out in Ford rally colours in August 2024.

Wheels & Tyres

• Compomotive RFX split rims, freshly painted, polished and refurbished
• Fitted with Hankook slick tyres

• New set of Compomotive FH5000 split rims fitted with Hankook wet tyres
