1954 Aston Martin DB2/4

Description:

“Power, Beauty, and Soul”
1954 Aston Martin DB2/4
FIA HTP until 2031
Eligible for literally everything including the Mille Miglia

Designed by Frank Feeley and introduced in 1953, the Aston Martin DB2/4 was a masterful blend of elegance and performance, embodying the brand’s commitment to both road comfort and competitive spirit. Built as a more practical evolution of the DB2, the DB2/4 featured a 2+2 seating arrangement and a hatchback—innovative for its time—while retaining the potent 2.6-liter or later 2.9-liter Lagonda inline-six engine. Its lightweight aluminum body and robust chassis made it a favorite contender in both racing and rallying.

Journalists and drivers alike admired the DB2/4 for its versatility. It was a car that could comfortably compete on Sunday and transport a family on Monday, a rare duality that endeared it to enthusiasts. Its success in both racing and rallying underscored Aston Martin’s engineering prowess and the DB2/4’s status as a true all-rounder in motorsport history.

The car we are offering carries its “STC522” Registration since delivery on 10 February 1954 and comes with an original green Logbook detailing all previous owners since 1970. It has lived a sheltered life until 1980 when it was bought by John Curtis Chamberlain of Leicester who -within regulations- converted the car for competition in Aston Martin Owners Club Hill Climb and Circuit racing events where he scored a dozen podium finishes. Under his ownership the car was extensively covered in Classic Car Mechanics Magazine.

In 2000 the car was sold to the current owner, a French Gentleman Racer who further upgraded the car to FIA standards and competed several times in Tour Auto and Le Mans Classic.  The car comes with an FIA HTP valid until 2031 and would be a great entry in events like the Mille Miglia, the Goodwood Revival Fordwater Trophy, the RAC Woodcote trophy and numerous other historic race series.

Under current ownership the car was always maintained by specialist Eric Perou Garage who built and installed a new race engine, new gearbox and performed all maintenance between events. The car has benefitted from recent full maintenance and the installation of new FIA compliant seats and safety harnesses.
