National Legend Race Car
Description:
Car history:
When I bought this Legend I chose a car that was already set up correctly, and was a proven Race and Championship winning car.
This car won the Scottish Legends Championship three times, and in addition won the Scottish Teams Championship twice.
Work required:
The car had been raced for 2 or 3 years since it's last rebuild, so was in need of a full strip-down. As it was a Scottish Legends car there were also some changes required to meet the National Championship regulations.
Full body removal - many fibreglass repairs required
All rose joints replaced
Additional rear chassis bar added - seatbelt mounting (National requirement)
Reconditioned steering rack fitted
New fuel tank
New fuel tank protection plate fitted (National requirement)
New starter motor solenoid
New Ignition cut-out
New 6-point racing harness
New fully plumbed-in fire extinguisher system (engine, cab and boot)
Remote ignition and fire extinguisher pull tabs fitted (National requirement)
All wet and dry tyres replaced (different to Scottish Legends tyres)
Gear indicator fitted
Two race engine specifications checked, validated, and Scottish seals replaced with National seals (regulations are the same)
All previous decals removed, car wrapped and re-decaled
National Scrutineer (Simon Pocklington) inspected the car when stripped down and all missing Legends Approved decals added (National requirement)
Legends Raceceiver purchased
Current:
This car matches all of the current regulations and is as it was when I drove it off the track at the last championship meeting (Snetterton).
I was told that it takes about a year to learn how to drive a Legend quickly, and in my four race meetings I went from being lapped, to not being lapped, then staying in touch with the other racers, to racing with the other racers - and I started every race at the back of the grid.
Car has been 100% reliable, engine oil changed after every race meeting.
Spares:
Second Cresta built race engine (same as is in the car) with National seals
Third race engine (still has Scottish seals)
Fourth engine (requires a rebuild and parts supplied to do so)
4 litres Motul 300V 10W-40 oil
2 x HF401 Hiflo oil filters
3 sets of carburettors
Spare clutch
Raceceiver - mandatory for National racing
Set of 4 x wet tyres mounted on rims
Set of 4 x dry tyres (in addition to those on the car)
5 x tyres (Scottish) - can be used for testing
3 spare wheel rims
6 x spare bumpers (3 x front, 3 x rear) all straight with mounting tabs

This car is ready to race and, combined with the spares as above, you'll have everything you'll need. Nothing needs to be done.
