This car was Andy McMillan’s car in the first year of the Caterham R300 Series (they changed the name to 420R a few seasons later) and in his hands it won several races. I bought it from Andy in the second year and have owned it ever since. Andy’s team at McMillan motorsport have always kept it in first class condition. It didn’t race at all for about 4 seasons (while I was racing a Mega and a SIGMAX) and since I left the UK in 2015 it has mostly only done the 7 Series overseas rounds in Spain, Portugal, France or Italy with only 2 or 3 rounds a year since 2015 (no track days – just race weekends). The current engine from July 2023 has done only 9 races. There was a £9,000 rebuild in April 2025 including gearbox and differential rebuild, new engine loom and new belts and since that it has only done one race weekend. It was race prepared and ready to go for Zandvoort in 2025 but I had to cancel and it has done nothing since so it is race prep’d and ready to go with decent practice tyres on the car and a race set of tyres on the spare wheels.
