Offered for sale is an exceptional 1956 Lotus Eleven, chassis #207, with a fascinating history and a highly developed specification for top-level historic motorsport.

Originally delivered in Le Mans specification and without an engine, chassis #207 was supplied to Alfredo Momo, the mechanic of Briggs Cunningham, in the United States. Momo was well known for fitting his racing cars with engines such as Maserati or OSCA units. The car subsequently appeared in numerous race events over the years. Three surviving SCCA logbooks document its competition history and confirm that the car was fitted with a Ford 1098 engine in the 1970s when raced by M. Shumaker, and later with a Coventry Climax FWE in the 1980s when campaigned by David Whiteside.

In 1987, chassis #207 was sold to Nate Johnson, who began restoring the heavily used car. The project included a new chassis and a fully rebuilt engine by SASCO California. Sadly, Mr. Johnson passed away before the restoration could be completed. The car later passed through the hands of Howden Ganley (former Formula 1 driver) before reaching the dealer Ian Fitz-Simon.

In 2007, a Swedish gentleman purchased the car as a project in the United States. It was then shipped to the UK, where he collected it. The completion of the project took many years, and the car until the car was running beautifully and has also been road registered. It was first registered in the UK under the number 762 UYG, partly due to Swedish registration requirements. Its authenticity and origin have been confirmed by Vic Thomas of the Lotus Historical Register.

We then acquired the car and after it arrived in Germany we put the car again in parts restored it once again to a high-end competitive race specification, regardless of cost. A new 1.5-litre Coventry Climax engine was built by Britec Motorsport to the latest specifications. On the dyno, the engine produced 158 hp and runs on period-correct Weber 40 DCO3 carburettors. The gearbox was fully rebuilt with straight-cut gears and fitted with a limited-slip differential. The suspension was comprehensively developed and prepared to the highest standard for competition use. A roll bar was also installed.

A new FIA HTP is currently in process and will be supplied with the car.

The original old chassis is still present and is included in the sale.

As an option, the car can also be offered with a 1.2-litre Coventry Climax engine, fully rebuilt by SASCO in Californiaand fitted with Weber 42 DCOE carburettors. This is a spirited competition engine that can also be used for road driving.

The car is in as-new condition and, since completion, has only undergone a test rollout.
