After establishing a long-standing relationship with Courage Compétition, Henri Pescarolo played a key role in developing and campaigning prototypes derived from the Sarthe-based manufacturer. The Courage C52 forms part of this important lineage, bridging the gap between the Group C era and the modern generation of Le Mans Prototypes.

Introduced for the 1999 season, the C52 was designed to meet evolving endurance racing regulations, combining lightweight construction, refined aerodynamics, and proven turbocharged power. Built around a carbon fibre and aluminium honeycomb chassis and powered by Nissan’s twin-turbocharged V6, the car offered a highly competitive platform for both factory-supported and privateer teams.

The model sits within a direct evolutionary line of Courage prototypes, preceding later developments such as the C60 and the Pescarolo-Courage cars that would follow. This continuity highlights the importance of the C52 as a foundational chassis in modern endurance racing history.

Chassis N2 represents one of only a handful of examples produced and benefits from genuine factory involvement through its campaign by Nissan Motorsports (NISMO) at Le Mans. Its performance, culminating in an 8th overall finish, underscores the effectiveness of the Courage-Nissan collaboration during this period.

Today, the Courage C52 stands as a rare and highly usable historic prototype, combining authentic Le Mans pedigree with eligibility for the world’s most prestigious historic racing events.

This particular example has been fully recommissioned by Courage Classic, including the installation of a modern MoTeC engine management system and new ATL fuel tanks, ensuring reliability, safety, and ease of operation.
