Description:

William I'Anson Ltd are excited to offer for sale the highly original 1973 Lola T292 DFV.

The only example of a T292 recorded in the Lola sales ledger to be supplied in 3-litre specification for the Cosworth DFV engine.

Raced just twice by first owner Walter Lehmann in 1973 with the factory supplied red bodywork before being bought from Lehmann by Ruedi Jauslin in 1978. Jauslin campaigned HU50 for many years with both Cosworth DFV and Renault V6 engines, before selling the car to Peter Kaus of the Rosso Bianco Collection in 1984 where it remained until 2006.

Sympathetically restored by Simon Hadfield Motorsport for then owner Lord Irvine Laidlaw in 2007. Lord Laidlaw then campaigned HU50 successfully before it entered the current ownership in 2010, during which Pearsons Engineering have maintained the car.

A multiple time veteran of Le Mans Classic, and race winner in both period and historic racing, HU50 is a remarkably original and complete example of Lola’s ultimate ‘70s sports prototype. It retains the original monocoque, gearbox, bodywork and smaller parts, something nearly unheard of for this era of motorsport, with an unbroken ownership chain to boot.

With eligibility for Peter Auto’s CER 2, Le Mans Classic, Pre-’80 Endurance and more, HU50 offers race winning competitiveness combined with a well-proven and maintainable design, of which the opportunity to acquire an example is seldom.
