1965 Lotus 7 Series 2

Prepared as an HSCC Roadsports entrant, this car has been the subject of a complete rebuild with no expense spared using the best specialists where needed. The car is known to the Lotus 7 Registrar. It is road legal MOT able and has a current V5.

This car would be equally suited to hill climbing or other classic series such as Swinging Sixties.

Comprehensive chassis refurbishment and repanel by Arch Motors. Original and rare Lamiplate dash and interior panels. 1500 cc all steel pre crossflow built by Alan Sherwood (head by Neil Roper) to HSCC Roadsport spec delivering 135 bhp, including complete rebuild of twin italian built 40 DCOE's to as new condition. Cosworth style inlet manifolds. Period alloy rocker cover. Low profile baffled sump allowing minimum ride height. Alloy bellhousing and remote gear lever extension.

Semi close ratio gearbox (from Corsair GT) and diff rebuilt by John Young.

Tony Law manifold/silencer.

English Ford rear axle. New type 14 front calipers, Mintex 1155 pads, new brake and clutch master cylinders, new rear slave cylinders. Rear shoes lined with 'Halo' competition material by Questmead.

Nosecone and rear wings finished in period BMC Iris Blue. Hand made alloy front mudguards.

New Toyo 888R tyres on 4 spoke Revolution alloys.

Alloy radiator by Coolex, alloy foam filled fuel tank dimensionally identical to original. Alloy boot cover.

Adjustable steel dampers. Springall Steering wheel. Side impact bar.

All new brake lines. Complete re wire to negative earth running an alternator. High capacity external condenser. Crosthwaite & Gardiner distributor. All new fixings and hoses. Odyssey PC 680 battery, bespoke battery tray.

Extinguisher and harness new this year so lots of life left in them. Recent HSCC inspection and approval for Vehicle Identification Form which comes with the car.

The car has done one track day as a shake down and one qualifying session at the HSCC Wolds trophy where it acheived 4th in class in the hands of a comparative novice. The car went and handled extremely well, it has the agile benign characteristics typical of this marque.

The car is for sale simply due to the age of the owner/builder. My racing started pre pandemic with the 750 Historic Series however the  subsequent years of lay off and build time have meant the unwelcome effects of ageing advise me to stop now.

This is a great little genuine car which will provide a new owner with a fresh out of the box race winning opportunity.

(The original type 12 front brake calipers, Standard 10 rear axle/brake assembly, fuel tank, full screen and other assorted items are available by separate negotiation, which would allow an easy conversion to road going trim)
