The Lotus 41 is considered to be one of the most beautiful historic single seater race cars. This meticulously cared for example was raced regularly within the F3 1000cc Historic European trophy up until last year and is now for sale.

Chassis Nr. 41/F3/7 was delivered to Mr. Emil Knecht in Zurich in February 1966. In 1967 the Lotus was raced competitively by a very quick rising star of the time, Jürg Dubler. The car continued to be raced in 1969 by Dubler and Joerg Kissling before the car was retired and sold to the Grell Museum in 1975 where it remained for 30 years. In 2004, after the closure of the museum, the Lotus was bought by well-known motorsport enthusiast and Swiss Architect Peter Studer. The Lotus underwent an extensive restoration under his ownership before it was sold to the current owners, the Pircher family, in March 2013. The car underwent a nut to bolt restoration in 2014 after which it was raced regularly within the historic motorsport scene. An extensive rebuild to downdraught specifications followed in 2020 with Hunziker Motorsport including a full engine rebuild, gear linkage optimisation and gearbox revision. Consequently, the FIA HTP was renewed and remains valid until the end of 2030. The car comes with complete documentation including many technical specifications and photographical evidence of all the work which has gone into bringing the car up to perfect condition. The car is largely original and comes with matching numbers.

Since the last rebuild, the car has run 100% reliably in testing, qualifying and all races for the past three seasons with one exception. The car was raced at the Grand prix de France Historique in 2021 and at the 79th and 81st Goodwood Members Meeting in 2022 and 2024 respectively, among other events. The car was last raced in July 2024 at the Oulton Park Gold Cup. The engine has around 14 hours on the clock. The car is eligible for all F3 1000cc and One-litre F3 events. Given its historic and recent racing pedigree as well as the famous Lotus name, the car is an excellent potential candidate for future Goodwood events.

Not only is this car in and of itself a true gem but it is also offered as a complete racing package: The car comes with both “Mylaps X2” and “Cobra 360” transponders as well as a second set of wheels and rain tires. The Lotus also comes with a race car trailer (ANSSEMS TS 2000) with bespoke modifications to fit the tools and spares which are also included in the sale. In addition, an almost brand new 6x3m tent (Manufacturer: Pro Tent Switzerland) with matching Lotus racing colours is included.
