Lotus 59B F2 Rindt, Mosley Peterson last existing 1969
Description:
Lotus 59 B F2 driven by Jochen Rindt, Max Mosley and Ronnie Peterson in period. The only Lotus 59B F2 from 1969 still existing with FIA HTP valid till 2032. Completely restored and race ready with 2 extra sets of wheels! Continious history with a lot of files and period documents.
The Lotus 59 was designed by Dave Baldwin in 1969. Only 3 Lotus 59 F2 have been build and chassis /21 is the only one existing still in 1969 configuration. The Lotus 59B was using a ford Cosworth FVA 1600 engine and a Hewland FT200 gearbox.
The construction was a complex square tube frame with an aluminium bottom. Typical for the construction were rear brakes directly in the airstream (similar to the Lotus 49 F1). The front brakes were nearly completly covered from the front rims. Special was the very nice designed front looking like a shark mouth. Beginning 1969 was the year of the high rearwings and sometimes also front wings. The Lotus 59B used this season the high wing and later a low wing speciafication. Both wings are coming with car and can be shown.
The high wing was only hold by thin tubes directly at the rear wheel mounts. After a heavy crash from Jochen Rindt in the Lotus 49 F1 , the high wings were forbidden for the rest of the season.
